Ed Tolley has spent a lifetime serving Athens with integrity, fairness, and a deep commitment to justice. A proud University of Georgia graduate with degrees in business and law, Ed has practiced in Athens for more than 50 years as a founding partner of Cook & Tolley, LLP. His work has earned him statewide respect as one of Georgia’s most accomplished trial attorneys and a trusted advocate for the people and institutions that make our community strong.
Beyond the courtroom, Ed has always believed in giving back. He has served as president of the Clarke County Board of Education, chaired state commissions on indigent defense and judicial ethics, and been recognized with the State Bar of Georgia’s Tradition of Excellence and Professionalism Awards.
A husband, father, and community volunteer, Ed is deeply rooted in Athens. He believes local government should reflect the same values that have guided his life and career — integrity, accountability, and service to others. As District 7 Commissioner, he will bring seasoned leadership and a steady hand to help ensure Athens remains a community where everyone can thrive.
